My interest in natural medicine started when I was very little. The importance of good nutrition was handed down from my mother as well as a Great Aunt who was very pushy about, “taking your vitamins.” However, my official trek into studying natural remedies began one summer while I was dancing with a professional dance company in upstate New York. Five am yoga classes were a compulsory part of our day and I was introduced to the ancient Indian medicine known as Ayurveda.
While Ayurveda fascinated me-- from yoga to nutrition—I still had a need to incorporate a more scientific way of evaluating the body. A doctor recommended I try acupuncture as a means to support my immune system. After my first treatment, it took me only three weeks to enroll in the prestigious Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego. I moved from the east coast to pursue a medicine that I fell in love with, both in theory and in practice, and I have not looked back!
Combining my personal experiences along with specialized training in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, orthopedics, therapeutic massage, nutrition and endocrinology, I have been able to develop the diagnostic tools and treatment protocols necessary to help chronic patients find their optimal health potential.
My education includes a 4-year master’s degree program at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego. The curriculum takes an integrative approach toward medicine with advanced studies in orthopedic, neurological, pharmaceutical and western patho-physiology in addition to acupuncture and herbal medicine training.
I am also a licensed acupuncturist by the California state board and under this licensure, my scope of practice includes acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition, blood and lab prescription, and massage.
Finally, I have pursued special training in hormone and endocrine health, blood and lab chemistry prescription and analysis, therapeutic massage, and a specialized acupuncture technique for orthopedic conditions. By combining this knowledge with acupuncture, herbal medicine, and nutritional strategies, I help chronic patients restore their health and vitality.
"I'm committed to helping my patients find their inner strength, vitality, and like Alice in Wonderland says, their 'muchness'."
