Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine,
What’s all the fuss?
Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture have been used effectively for more than 3,000 years. Chinese Medicine’s gentle, do-no-harm approach has helped millions of people to avoid surgery and other invasive procedures, alleviate pain, improve circulation and metabolic function, and restore balance to the nervous system. It continues to alleviate pain and suffering, standing the test of time, and proving its relevance even to today’s modern, complex diseases.

Study after study demonstrates its effectiveness for a wide array of conditions ranging from back pain to PMS to headaches, among many others. As modern technology advances, we are finally beginning to understand just how this ancient form of medicine works.

So, how does it work?
Western Science...
Research has shown acupuncture makes physiological changes in the human body.   Placing very small needles at certain points on the body release different neurotransmitters necessary for proper brain function, our sense of well-being and a sense of euphoria.

In fact, MRI studies show different parts of the brain light up with the insertion of the acupuncture needles. Also, acupuncture stimulates the release of a particular cell that has specific pain-suppressing benefits and stimulates the Vagus nerve, which reduces inflammation, regulates organ function and significantly improves digestion.

So, how does it work?
Eastern Wisdom...

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) views the body as a whole. While it can treat a specific symptom to provide relief, it has the unique ability to get to the root cause of the disease or symptom, make corrections to physiological function and, thus, prevent the disease from further development or recurrence.

In TCM, the tissues and organs are connected through a vast network of channels, or meridians, and blood vessels inside the body. There are over 360 points on the body, distributed along these meridians, each possessing several different functions.

There are many different points that can be used to treat your specific condition. This is why your acupuncture treatment will be unique, tailor-made to you and your needs.

Some Conditions Acupuncture Treats

Chronic and Acute pain
Neck, Back, Shoulder and Limb Injuries
Chronic Sinusitis
Menstrual pain, PMS, and other Hormonal Imbalances
Stress, Anxiety and Depression
Fatigue
Weakened Immune System
Digestive Disorders
Headaches and Migraines
Infertility
Menopause
Arthritis
Auto-Immune Disorders
Neuralgias
Thyroid Conditions
Asthma
Recurring Colds and Flus

The proof is in the science...

Perhaps the most exciting finding to date is the recent discovery that the acupuncture meridians are real, anatomical structures, and can no longer be considered imaginary lines of energy. A team of research scientists discovered, through the use of a low-magnification surgical microscope, “threadlike microscopic anatomical structures that correspond to the layout of acupuncture meridians.”

These structures are located inside blood and lymphatic tissue and also form networks that overlay internal organs. Moreover, inside these meridians, researchers found hyaluronic acid (essential to joints, eyes, skin and heart valves), granules of DNA and stem cells, which may have profound implications for the application of acupuncture and changing the course of different diseases.
