Nutrition and Dietary Planning
Nutrition is not a one size fits-all approach. GOOD nutrition is about understanding what your body needs. While there are general rules of thumb that remain true for everyone—think whole, fresh foods and not canned junk—we are all fueled just a little bit differently. Some people’s body’s demand high amounts of healthy fats and protein to feel healthy and energized. Some people’s metabolisms work best when their protein source comes mainly from vegetables, nuts and seeds. While we all need similar nutrients—proteins, complex carbs, healthy fats-- the amount and proportions of these nutrients can vary greatly from individual to individual.
Developing Your Nutritional Plan
Emily will help you listen to what your body is asking for and customize a nutrition plan that is unique to you. Emily first gathers as much information from you as possible. She’ll ask you lots of questions such as, “How is your digestion?” Or, “How do you feel after eating a bowl of pasta?” Or do you feel energized after eating fish?” After a thorough intake from you, she will most likely run some lab work. This may include food allergy panels, gluten intolerance panels, vitamin/nutrient evaluations, and blood sugar and organ function assessments.
Using all this data, Emily will guide you on appropriate food choices for you and assist with general meal planning.
